Why I decided to write the first anti-woke novel
The clue is in the title.
I decided to write Jessica Shelton is Not Woke because I was amazed to see (during the many hours I spent browsing for books on Amazon) that no anti-woke novel existed.
Not one.
Not even a self-published dickie bird.
And that is still true.
There are plenty of non-woke novels, obviously - thrillers thankfully steer clear of the nonsense, on the whole - but there are no novels that actually say hang on, what the hell has happened to society, we are living through a time that is more serious (because it's all of society, not just Hollywood) that is like a new McCarthy era.
It was an irresistible prospect - to write the world's first anti-woke novel. It seemed akin to discovering a product that a large proportion of the world was crying out for, but only you had the blueprint for.Of course, Jessica Shelton is Not Woke might just appear on Amazon and, despite my best efforts at marketing it (or just because people don't like it) it fails to make a splash. But I am committed to writing at least three Jessica Shelton novels and seeing if they can build a head of steam among the good readers who for too long have been served little but "under-represented voices" (wouldn't you love to see some chief execs from the top publishing houses being grilled on TV about all this BS?).
Because God knows, we could wait until Doomsday for the publishing world to grow a set of balls and release something that wasn't just sycophantic woke. Which is crazy, really, because we're not talking about some outlandish, racist cause that we want to see in print - we're talking about a refutation of awful, divisive and weird leftist ideology that is seeking to replace civilised western life as we know it.
I'll talk about the writing of Jessica Shelton is Not Woke in future posts. For now I can just say that I'm about 24,000 words into the first draft (am aiming for about 75,000 in total) and I am absolutely loving it. It feels great to be ripping the shit out if the wokeys. The book will be published on July 1 2023. Stay the hell
tuned.
